Occupation Week regarding the 91st anniversary of Georgia's occupation by the Russian 11th army on February 25, 1921, continues. Various activities will take place in Tbilisi and regions of Georgia on this occasion.
The action will be held in Shorapani today to commemorate the victims of the rebellion of the 1924 when number of people were shot in the train carriages by the Red Army in village Shorapani.
In February 1921 Georgia was attacked by the Red Army. The Georgian army was defeated and the government fled the country.
On February 25, 1921 the Red Army entered the capital Tbilisi and installed a Moscow directed communist government, led by Georgian Bolshevik Filipp Makharadze.
The Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic was established on February 25, 1921.
