U.S. ambassador to Georgia John Bass sent a letter of condolence on the death of three Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan to Rustavi 2 on Thursday.
`We do not comment as a matter of policy on specific incidents that result in casualties. However, I wish to underscore that the Georgian troops serving in the International Security Assistance Force, and notably those serving in Helmand province, are performing vital counterinsurgency missions, in coordination with their U.S. Marine partners, that are contributing to improved security for Afghanistan`s citizens. They serve bravely, and we deeply value their dedication to the mission. We mourn the deaths of those brave soldiers killed earlier this week and will not forget their sacrifice, nor that of their familes and loved ones throughout Georgia,` ambassador said.
