Issues of Georgia`s cooperation with NATO will be included in the NATO Chicago summit declaration - Anders Fogh Rasmussen told Rustavi2 at the annual seminar of the alliance in Washington on Tuesday. The seminar was dedicated to the discussion of the Chicago summit agenda.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in the interview with Rustavi2, that the summit would not discuss the invitation of non-member states to Alliance, however, Georgia`s participation in international peacekeeping missions and the country`s progress would be considered.
`No new invitations will be extended at the NATO Chicago summit, but obviously we will reaffirm that our open-door policy will continue and as far as it concerns Georgia, I think Georgia has made substantial progress, we appreciate very much our cooperation with Georgia, in particular, its commitment to the ISAF mission,` Anders Fogh Rasmussen said.
NATO Secretary General held a press conference in Washington and hailed the wok of the coalition forces in Afghanistan. He said, despite the number of victims fro the coalition forces, the mission should be accomplished and the mission was stability in Afghanistan.
Rasmussen also spoke about relations with Russia, adding the Alliance and Russia failed to agree on anti-missile defense, therefore, NATO-Russia council session would not be held within the Chicago summit.
