Georgia`s First Lady Sandra Roelofs attended an event dedicated to the International Day of Rare Diseases in Brussels. A charitable gala-dinner was held after the conference in Brussels, which was organized under the patronage of the First Lady and the chairmanship of EURORDIS and the president of the Council of Europe, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy.
Sandra Roelofs also founded an Alliance for Rare Diseases within her charitable foundation Soko, which aims at unification of the organizations in Georgia, which work on rare diseases and the self-assistance groups. The money collected at the charitable dinner will be spent on treatment of patients suffering from rare diseases and conduct of scientific researches.
