Tbilisi government joins the state methadone program - on the first stage of the program, municipal government will cover the cost of the treatment course to 100 drug addicts, who cannot afford payment of 30% of the treatment cost and are from the vulnerable families. The drug-addicts, who will be registered in the list, will be provided methadone treatment for free.
Those who want to join the second stage of the program, they have to submit applications at the Tbilisi government. The key requirement of the program is that the applicant must not be using the service of other medical programs funded by the city government.
A special commission staffed by the representatives of NGOs and the members of the city hall held the first session around the issue today.
