Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nino Kalandadze commented on the visit of the European Commission mission to Georgia. The mission arrives in Georgia on a two-day visit today and it will consist of experts, who will discuss the implementation of the negotiations on visa-liberalization agreement with the European Union. The experts will discuss issues of security and border control.
`The goal of the visit is to monitor the issue of the implementation of the visa liberalization and readmission agreement. At the meeting of the EU-Georgian Council on December 1, 2011, the sides took a decision to discuss the opening of the dialogue on the aforementioned issue by summer 2012, therefore, it depends on the report of the experts who arrive in Georgia today, whether the dialogue on visa-liberalization agreement will be opened,` Nino Kalandadze said.
Nino Kalandadze also commented on the investigation of Mariam Makhniashvili`s case, whose remains were found in Toronto a few days ago. Deputy Minister said the diplomatic mission is intensively involved in the process of negotiations of the transfer of the body and it will do its best to protect the interests of the dead girl`s family.
