The US does not recognize the so-called parliamentary elections held on March 10 in Georgia's one of two occupied regions of Abkhazia as legitimate. Marc Toner, Press Speaker of State Department made a statement in that regard.
Toner underlined that the US supports Georgia's territorial integrity and state sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders. He also called on Russia for fulfillment of its internationally taken commitments.
The US Embassy in Georgia also released a statement on its web-page regarding illegitimacy of so-called parliamentary elections in Abkhazia.
