The position of Russia regarding Georgia serves as a difference for the US, and remains an issue of disagreement between the Kremlin and Washington, Philip H. Gordon, Assistant Secretary for Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs stated.
During a speech delivered at Political Center, Gordon said that the US standpoint was also strict regarding Russian elections and mass violations detected during the polls.
Gordon underlined that Russia's moves came into contradiction with the Jackson-Venik amendment (a cold war-era provision of the Trade Act).
