Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the participants of the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit 2012 on Monday. Saakashvili focused on the threats, which come from Georgia`s breakaway territories occupied by Russia from the point of view of spreading nuclear materials.
President announced that these territories are black holes for smugglers and they are out of Georgian control. Russian president Dmitri Medvedev was among those leaders, who were listening to Saakashvili`s speech.
The Nuclear Security Summit 2012 opened in Seoul at 4 a.m. Tbilisi time and it was soon closed for media. The journalists were allowed to cover only the speeches by the host country leader, Barack Obama, as the initiator of the summit and the leader of China.
Other guests of the summit were given 5 minutes each to deliver speeches. Georgian president also spoke about the measures and legislative amendments, which the government of Georgia implemented to eradicate spread of nuclear materials and provide nuclear security on the country`s territory.
Two years after the Washington Nuclear Summit, in his address to world leaders, Barack Obama called on world leaders to fight nuclear threats jointly. Hu Jintao voiced another initiative- to create joint groups by various countries to neutralize nuclear risks.
