The number of illegal migrants detained in Greece has reached 500 - according to recent reports, the local police have arrested 47 illegal residents throughout the country on Thursday. The special operations are conducted within the official campaign against illegal migration.
Under the order of the government, the special units are checking up streets of the capital and detaining illegal migrants. The authorities decided to constructed special centre for illegal residents in the regions of Greece, where they will be able to ask for asylum, but if they are refused, they will be deported from the country.
The governmental campaign against illegal migration became necessary after increased number of crimes committed by or against migrants.
