U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass spoke about the electoral environment in Georgia with mass media representatives in Georgia's seaside city Batumi, Adjara region.
"There are rumors as if U.S. changed its attitude towards Georgia and the U.S. has a desired candidate. I reiterate that the U.S. supports Georgia and its people's aspiration to democracy and supports them in this process. We don't have a desired party, candidate or a desired outcome we expect from the parliamentary or presidential election. We support Georgia and selecting the desire candidate is upon the choice of citizens of Georgia", Bass said.
The ambassador underscored the importance of conducting transparent, fair and free election, to select a parliament as a result that will depict the diverse opinion of the public. The meeting between John Bass and the media representatives in Batumi lasted an hour.
