The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State and the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) will present the newly published textbook, "Trial Advocacy Skills," to the public at the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel in Tbilisi on April 11, at 16:00. The pilot Trial Advocacy Skills course will begin in Georgian universities and law schools in the 2012 spring semester.
The new trial advocacy skills course and textbook will help students master theoretical criminal procedure law through practical exercises including mock trials and role playing. The "Trial Advocacy Skills" textbook includes trial advocacy skills, case analysis, voir dire, voir dire questions, basic principles of client interviews, witness preparation, opening statement, closing argument, objections and preparation of jury instructions. U.S. Hofstra University Professor Barbara Barron trained 36 professors from 14 Georgian educational institutions that are participating in the Trial Advocacy Skills project.
