Another statement was made in the US in support to Georgia's bid to become integrated into the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Georgia's territorial integrity.
John McCain, Republican Senator from Arizona State sent a letter to Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State with the following text: "Chicago summit is an excellent chance to express our support to Georgia's NATO membership. I call on you to continue diplomatic efforts to fix Georgia's path to NATO during the summit."
The letter also mentions Georgia's participation in ISAF operation in Afghanistan and democratic aspirations. McCain also underlined that Russia continued occupation of Georgia's two regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Statements in support of Georgia were also made in the US Congress. US congressmen stated that rejection of Georgia's NATO membership only becase its territories were invaded was not fair.
