Rain is expected across Georgia during the nearest 10 days.
Dry weather is prognosticated in Tbilisi on May 9. Georgian weather forecasters say that precipitation might cause floods in eastern Georgia.
As a result of the melting snow and rain, rivers have swollen in Kakheti. Deputy Governor of Kakheti Giorgi Sibashvili stated that mainly the rivers of Lagodekhi and Kvareli that join Alazani have flooded.
"The water level has increased in rivers, though it is not alarming. Only disaster can cause the rivers to overflow. We permanently carry out preventive measures. We clean river beds, to avoid water overflow, damage and victims," Sibashvili said. He said that the work is financed by local and central budget.
