Emergency Department in Tbilisi informs about four victims of flooding in the city. It's been heavily raining for several hours in the capital. Majority of the street are flooded.
A woman and two children died of mud-flow, Temur Giorgadze, head of Emergency Department told news agency GHN. By 3:00 in the morning information was reported about two more deaths, one of them is woman.
Old district Ortachala is in the most difficult situation. Mountain collapsed in the district creating danger to several buildings. People are evacuated of their houses. level of water doesn't allow transport movement, but even makes people hard to walk.
GHN quotes Gigi Ugulava, Mayor of the capital saying that mud-flow cut off slope of land, which blocked collector of water.
"At this place there is collector, which collects water and lets it down. Most likely, slope of land was cut off somewhere blocking it and instead of collector, water came down, it means that the whole river runs through the road." He says.
Water reached number of buildings in Ortachala, electricity is switched of for residents' safety.
River Mtkvari, biggest water artery in the South Caucasus, swelled and flooded streets turning cars over. Car traffic is stopped in the streets. Certain places near river are fully isolated and it's impossible to reach them.
On social networks there are several reports about people missing. Emergency service is fully mobilized.
Cars are covered by water and people are standing on their cars waiting for help in Mukhiani district. On Facebook, people report that cars and taxis have difficulties to reach various districts in Tbilisi and people have to get home walking.
There is also information of eight isolated villages in Dusheti region, Northern Georgia.
Real TV informs that Tbilisi airport works in normal regime, all flights will end as scheduled. There is no interruption in Georgian railway either.
