U.S. President Barack Obama won`t attend a major summit of Asia-Pacific leaders in Russia -White House press secretary Jay Carney made official statement on Monday. Carney abstained from specifying the reasons of the decision, however, he defined that despite good partner relationship between Russia and the United States, there still remain the issues, on which they have differences. Carney also added these differences should not affect bilateral relations.
Washington has also confirmed that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will attend the APEC summit in Vladivostok scheduled for September.
Carney said the visit was cancelled; however, the two leaders will eventually meet at the G20 summit in Mexico in June and have their first face-to-face meeting since Putin was elected president for the second time.
