Georgia has submitted an application with regard to hosting Euro 2020 independently, Zviad Sichinva, Chairman of the Football Federation, and Lado Vardzelashvili, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs said at the Ministry today.
According to them, talks were under way with the Azerbaijani side, but ultimately Georgia decided to submit an application independently as Azerbaijan is focused on hosting the 2020 Olympic Games.
The Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs noted that despite the above-mentioned Georgia has an ambition and hope that it will cope with all the infrastructure projects.
He said that in case of consent from UEFA Georgia would be able to properly prepare for the European Championship.
According to the President of the Football Federation, Georgia sent a letter to UEFA secretariat last evening, and this letter will be discussed today.
