Nino Kalandadze, Georgia's Deputy Foreign Minister has made explanations regarding her comments about Davit Gareji Monastery Complex of the 6th century on border with Azerbaijan.
Kalandadze released a statement through her page in Facebook social network. She said political speculations followed her statement's citing.
Kalandadze said delimitation process between Georgia and Azerbaijan was still ongoing and that 66% of the order had been agreed for the time being. The 2% of Davit Gareji's territory remained disputable. The other part was situated on Georgia's territory.
Kalandadze noted that the Azerbaijani side had not been limiting free movement of church persons and tourists for many years. The Azeri border guards prohibited access 10 days ago. She said the Georgian side was now working to ensure free movement.
