While continuing her meetings with the international institutions, expert organizations, high level politicians in Paris, Strasbourg, Brussels in Berlin, Prof. Kirtadze met with representatives of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Jan Schuijer, Senior Counsellor of Global Relations Secretariat, was hosting visit of Prof. Kirtadze. "The region of Southern Caucasus is very interesting for us to explore new projects and reflect on prospects of economic development, - he marked, - initiative, like Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian House are necessary for provision of objective information". Mr. Schuijer officially invited prof. Kirtadze to participate in Global Forum of the OECD on a regular - a special platform of recognised partners of the institution, which is aimed on shaping agenda of projects for the OECD. He will also make sure that Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian House will be included in the list of the OECD expert network.
Marina Cernov, one of the OECD experts, presented to Prof. Kirtazde Eurasia Competitiveness Programme of the institution. The aim of the programme is to research market opportunities for SMEs in the region of Eurasia, including Southern Caucasus, with better economic and development policies. Intersection of the programme with economic agenda of Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian House is obvious and Prof. Kirtadze suggested practical way of cooperation and partnership via arranging special research on evaluation of economic prospects of development in the region of Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia with integrated economic area (and free movement of goods, services, capital and people) in comparison with current administrative and legal restrictions to regional economic cooperation. Mrs. Cernov expressed deep interest in this research and potential outcomes of it and will officially request for feedback on comments on this idea from OECD - Georgia official dialogue mechanism, which involves Government of Georgia as reporter. Independent research of prospectively effective policy measures for economic development in the region will be a major practical narrative for economic strategy in the region via healthy, smart long term policies. However, it requires approval from Georgian state and absence of it could mean lack of interest from current Georgian political elite towards real improvement of the situation in the region.
Last but not the least, Prof. Kirtadze held a meeting with Evgenia Woog, representative of Public Affairs and Press department at the OECD. In the light of upcoming and about to be prepared project of the first newspaper in Georgian, Abkhazian and Ossetian languages to be freely distributed by Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian House in the region, knowledge and content partnerships (where transparency and impartiality of experts and journalists is clear and legitimacy of analysis is therefore out of question) with high quality contributors are crucial for the project's success. Mrs. Woog invited Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian House to freely use reports and materials of the OECD which can be helpful for realisation of project's aims. Mrs. Woog also will appoint a special person n the OECD, who will take care of prompt informing of Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian House about all upcoming relevant initiatives and special programmes, that might be very interesting to explore for the organization.
On Sunday Prof. Kirtadze is heading to Strasbourg to conduct meetings with Members of the European Parliament and experts at the international institutions. After she will also held numerous meetings in Brussels and Berlin, building healthy long term contacts for successful achievement of core goal of Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhazian House - ensure prosperous peaceful development in the region of South Caucasus via instruments of mutually beneficial economic, social, academic and cultural integration.
