An extraordinary performance of Italian flag throwers ("sbandieratori") will take place for the first time in Tbilisi on the occasion of the 66th Anniversary of the Italian Republic. The spectacle, which will be open by the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia Federica Favi, will be performed by the Italian National Team of Flag Throwers on May 31st, at 7:00 pm, in the historical Meidani Square. The show has been organized by the Embassy of Italy to Georgia in cooperation with Tbilisi Municipality, with the support provided by thirteen private sponsors of the cultural events of the Embassy. It will involve athletes and musicians from eight cities and six different Italian regions (Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Tuscany, Campania and Apulia).
The Georgian public will therefore have the chance to watch one of the most traditional and coloured Italian open-air shows, dating back to the Middle Age. The event will also be a special occasion for celebrating in the best way the twentieth anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and Georgia. Participation of Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze and Mayor of Tbilisi Giorgi Ugulava is foreseen.
