Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State arrived at Batumi Airport of Georgia from Armenia within the framework of her Caucasus tour last evening. Grigol Vashadze, Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs hosted the high-ranking official at the airport.
John Bass, US Ambassador to Georgia, Temur Iakobashvili, Georgia's Ambassador to US and Levan Varshalomidze, head of Adjara Autonomous Republic's government also participated in the welcoming ceremony. Clinton then arrived at Batumi Sheraton Hotel.
US Secretary of State is scheduled to hold several meetings with Georgian governmental officials. She will meet with Nika Gilauri, Prime Minister.
The Omnibus Meeting, summarizing sitting of the Georgian-US Strategic Charter will be then held afterwards. All the issues as envisaged under the strategic document will be discussed. Talks will be focused around the forthcoming 2012 parliamentary elections in Georgia. Cooperation and security matters will be also considered.
Clinton is planned to meet with representatives of the Georgian opposition as part of her visit. Leaders of the New Rightists Party, Christian-Democratic Movement (CDM) and Georgian Dream coalition will arrive at Sheraton Hotel for the sitting.
The opposition politicians will discuss elections related issues, domestic affairs and Georgia's perspectives to become integrated with the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) with the US Secretary of State.
Clinton will attend the ceremony of handing over the patrol boat to the Georgian side. The boat was modernized and refurbished with support of the US. Up-to-date navigation system was installed.
US Secretary of State will meet with Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili. The meeting will take place at Batumi Justice House. Clinton will have the opportunity to become introduced with the reforms carried out by Georgia in the latest years at firsthand. Saakashvili and Clinton will give a summarizing briefing at Batumi Justice House.
