(RIA Novosti) - Forensics have identified the body of Polish first lady Maria Kaczynski, who died along with her husband and other top state officials in Saturday's plane crash near the western Russian city of Smolensk.
A Soviet-made TU-154 carrying a top-level delegation to a ceremony for the anniversary of the Katyn massacre crashed in a wooded area as it attempted to land at an airport in western Russia in thick fog on Saturday morning, killing all 96 people on board.
"Maria Kaczynski's body has been identified," presidential aide Jacek Sasin said. "The body of the president's wife will probably be taken to Poland tomorrow [Tuesday] afternoon."
The coffin of Lech Kaczynski, whose body was identified by his twin brother Jaroslaw, arrived at the presidential palace in Warsaw on Sunday as tens of thousands of Poles lined the streets to pay their final respects.
