Georgian parliament speaker Davit Bakradze and several other MPs have left for Afghanistan to meet Georgian soldiers serving in the Afghanistan peacekeeping mission. The parliamentary delegation will spend one day together with the soldiers at the military base.
Davit Bakradze says the goal of the visit is to demonstrate support to Georgian soldiers in order to make them feel that their activity is a contribution to the development of their homeland.
`It is the duty of the politicians to stand morally and physically by their soldiers, who are serving in Afghanistan. With this on mind, we have decided to arrive in Afghanistan and spend one day in the same conditions, as our soldiers have to live for months. We`ll symbolically pass all those problems and dangers, which they face during the mission together. With this act, we shall demonstrate our attitude to their mission; it will be the demonstration of our respect to their service in such difficult conditions.
