Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili held a meeting in Washington with Vice President Joseph Biden. President`s press service has reported that at the meeting they discussed a wide range of Georgian-American relations within the previously signed Charter on strategic cooperation.
The meeting focused on the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the threats facing the country, the current reforms, the electoral situation and ensuring holding of democratic and fair elections and other relevant issues.
Biden once again thanked Georgia for sending troops to Afghanistan to fight against international terrorism and reiterated support of the United States to Georgia`s territorian integrity and sovereignty.
Saakashvili also met with Senator Richard Lugar and went to the U.S. Senate, holding negotiations with senators.
Earlier, the Georgian President addressed at the summit on nuclear security. According to him, According to him, his country actively participates in reducing global threats. He said it was managed to prevent possible incidents with the help of the international community, but dangerous places still remain in Georgia, in particular, the occupied regions, where international monitoring is not held.
