Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili, who is being in the US with an official visit, delivered a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington.
President spoke about the reforms carried out in Georgia and challenges, which the country had to overcome on its way to development.
Saakashvili highlighted that in spite of a lot obstacles, country continues its development and will never give up. However, he was proud that Georgia had successfully passed many endangers.
Besides, Mikheil Saakashvili talked about the protests of the opposition and noted the protest wave had a positive influence on the development of the Georgian democracy.
‘Georgia should play its role in solving global problems. Georgia is a country which managed to defeat corruption and crime, and developed democracy since the Rose Revolution. Colossal work has been done to form a new society', Mikheil Saakashvili said.
Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili met with Joseph Biden, US Vice-President at White House on April 14.
Saakashvili and Baiden discussed bilateral relations between Georgia and the US. Baiden thanked the Georgian president for Georgia's contribution to the Afghan peacekeeping operations and talked about the importance of sending of the Georgian battalion to the Helmand province.
The US Vice-President then once again pledged support to Georgia's territorial integrity and state sovereignty, and gave high assessment to the ongoing democratic and economic processes in the country.
According to Baiden, friendship between American and Georgian people was based on principles of democracy, freedom and human rights.
