Delegation of Georgian MPs chaired by the speaker of the Parliament Davit Bakradze has returned from Afghanistan, where they spent one day beside Georgian soldiers. One hundred Georgian soldiers have been serving in Afghanistan peace mission since November 2009. Within one-day visit, Georgian MPs staid in Kabul and met with the commanders of the coalition forces and the speaker of the Afghanistan`s parliament.
`Georgian soldiers were guarding the gates of the military base when we entered inside and when I saw them with Georgian flag on their shoulder, I had a feeling of great pride, because they are well-trained , worthy soldiers of our army, the soldiers who work for their homeland,` Davit Bakradze said after the arrival from Afghanistan.
`Many different positions have been voiced regarding the participation of Georgia in Afghanistan mission, but let`s recollect the nearest past, when Russian authorities openly accused Georgia of involvement in the Moscow terrorist attacks a few weeks ago. The key argument, which nullified the possibility of this version, was Georgia`s participation in Afghanistan counter-terrorist operation,` the leader of the parliamentary minority, Giorgi Targamadze said.
