After the detention of the former minister of defense and interior Bacho Akhalaia, Minister of Justice of Georgia and the Chief Prosecutor announced about the detention of the chief of staff of armed forces Giorgi Kalandadze and the commander of the fourth brigade Zurab Shamatava. The decision on their detention was taken by the minister of justice Tea Tsulukiani. The two senior officials even held a briefing this morning to define the motives of their detention.
They defined that Kalandadze was arrested within the investigation which is underway according to the article 333 of the criminal code of Georgia, which envisages misuse of authority.
The detainees have been already transferred to the pre-trial insulator.
