Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili has commented about the detention of the NCC directors saying the arrest of Gega Kelbakiani was absolutely fair. Gharibashvili spoke about recent detentions with the TV9 yesterday. He said the crime, of which the two directors of the construction company were suspected, `was very grave` - money laundering, embezzlement of state funds and legalization of illegal incomes.
The minister defined that Kelbakiani was arrested on the grounds of the operative information provided to the ministry of interior and the goal of the interrogation was to restore justice and not to obtain more grounds for arresting others. He also ruled out political motives in any previous arrests, as it was widely assessed by the opponents since the change of government.
