Emergency situation Service department of MIA, Kakheti division of Patrol police, fire brigades and emergency services are mobilized in the Velistsikhe village of Gurjaani district, Georgia's Eastern Region of Kakheti.
About 600 families are evacuated from their houses. They are stationed in the theatre building of Velistsikhe village.
Minister of environment, Goga Khachidze, Kakheti governor Giorgi Gviniashvili, the head of the department of emergencies, Irakli Kadagidze and other officials are at the disaster region now.
The level of water in the reservoir of the river Cheremi rose due to heavy rain and damaged the dam of the reservoir, creating danger of flood to local population.
The team of geologists is observing the situation. The emergency ambulances have been also sent to provide assistance to the locals.
