Tbilisi State University marks the 134th Jubilee of Ivane Javakhishvili, a Georgian historian whose voluminous works heavily influenced the modern scholarship of the history and culture of Georgia. He was also one of the founding fathers of the Tbilisi State University (1918) and its rector from 1919 to 1926.
In the administrative building of the TSU the rector and the professors of the University laid wreaths at the grave of the founder of TSU. Later today, the rector Gia Khubua will officially announce the restoration of Ivane Javakhishvili Prize.
Several other events are scheduled on the day of the Jubilee and the International Day of Books. In the second building of the TSU a special exhibition of the photographs of the TSU. The unique printings by Kind Vakhtang VIO and the recent editions printed by TSU printing house will be exposed side by side today.
