A briefing was held at Georgia's Defense Ministry regarding increase of salaries to Georgian soldiers serving their mission for International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
Vako Avaliani, advisor to Defense Minister Irakli Alasania held the briefing. Avaliani said the decision was made by Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili after Minister Irakli Alasania's visit in Afghanistan.
He said soldiers' salary will be increased by 40% and will be 1,001 USD instead of 715. Corporal's salary will be 1,040 USD instead of 780, second sergeants will get 1,079 USD instead of 845, sergeants -1,118 USD instead of 910.
Salary of first sergeants, lieutenants, first lieutenants, captains, majors, Vice-colonels and colonels also increases.
"Salaries for Georgian soldiers who serve in Afghanistan will increase. They received a bonus only once in 2011, 365 GEL on average per one serviceman, while from September 2009 to October 2012, 41 164 GEL was issued as a bonus in the Ministry of Defense and Joint Staff", Vako Avaliani said.
