US State Secretary, Hillary Clinton is expected to discuss the preparation of a new agreement with Russia, which will replace all previous agreements on strategic defence weapons during her visit to Russia. Mrs. Clinton arrived in the Russian capital a few hours ago.
On October 13, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow to discuss work on the new arms control agreement, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
During her visit, Clinton will `meet with senior Russian officials to discuss progress on a successor agreement to START, cooperation on non-proliferation and counterterrorism` and other matters, the State Department said.
Prior to the meeting with Lavrov, US State Secretary will meet Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.
Political analysts predict that the visit will be of positive mode despite the sharp statements, which is characteristic for Clinton.
