9 May was celebrated with a parade in Moscow.
May 9 is the day of the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War (also known as the Great Patriotic War in the Soviet Union and some post-Soviet states). 65 years have passed since the war finished.
According to Russian news agencies, public figures and political leaders of the antifascist coalition member countries have gathered in Moscow today. Troops from four Nato countries have marched for the first time in Russia's annual parade to mark victory in WWII, the BBC says. Soldiers from Britain, France, Poland and the US marched alongside Russian troops through Moscow's Red Square.
