Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II hosted American delegation today. Patriarch met with US Deputy Assistant Secretary Mr. Thomas Melia. His Holiness spoke about the political developments and the upcoming presidential elections in Georgia. Patriarch thanked the US government for its firm support to Georgia and observed a minute silence for the memory of those who were killed in 9/11 terror attack.
Patriarch of Georgia has also touched the developments regarding Syria and expressed his hope that the controversy would not grow into war.
