Yesterday, within the frameworks of the working visit to Brussels the
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili visited NATO headquarters and met
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. On the meeting there has been
emphasized the importance of Georgia and NATO cooperation and a close partnership
relations with Georgia, reports GHN according to Prime Minister's Press Service.
It was noted the progress made by Georgia on the way to integration in
NATO, the democratic processes and reforms that have taken place in Georgia
during the last period. There has also been emphasized the contribution of
Georgia to the overall process of Euro-Atlantic security, in particular the
significant contribution to ISAF mission. The Georgian side reaffirmed its
readiness to participate in the NATO training mission in Afghanistan after 2014.
“Georgia's aspiration to join Euro-Atlantic structures is an
irreversible process, because it is the demand of the Georgian people and the Government
of Georgia will do its best to fulfill it” commented Irakli Garibashvili during
a joint press conference held after the meeting.
On the other hand, NATO Secretary-General emphasized the progress
achieved by Georgia and the ongoing successful reforms on the way to
integration to NATO.
