Our
partners understand that NATO integration is of vital importance for Georgia,
Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili said during a visit to Romania while
responding to the letter from Congressmen. The Speaker said that the main theme
of the meetings in Romania was Georgia’s integration with the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization, reports GHN according to InterpressNews.
"In
this process we enjoy support, and the position in this regard of the U.S.
Congressmen is quite clear and obvious. Georgia expects progress from the NATO
summit in 2014. Our partners, the Alliance member states understand that NATO
integration is of vital importance for Georgia. Moving closer to NATO will
increase our security guarantees. Respectively, the position of the U.S.
Congressmen is very important. Apart from them, we have support from almost all
parliaments of Europe. Therefore, we are optimistic. We are sure that a
decision will be made, which will reaffirm this support once again. The form of
this support will become clear from negotiations," said the Speaker.
The US
Congressmen addressed Secretary of State Jon Kerry and welcomed the fact that expansion
of the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will be a priority of the 2014
summit.
