“Georgia is a very important
partner for us”, declared NATO’s Chairman of the Military Committee Genral
Knud Bartels after meeting with Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania,
reports GHN.
General also stated that Alliance
offers its support to the process of Georgia’s integration in NATO.
“We are here today to discuss
future cooperation issues between Georgia and NATO. I would like to underline
the role of Georgia in ISAF operations and in NATO rapid response mission following
2014 year. Also I would like to express my sorrow to the families of those
militaries who died during their mission in Afghanistan”.
“During the meeting with (Prime)
Minister I drew out conclusion that Georgia is continuing its course towards integration
in NATO whilst reforming its armed forces. NATO offers its support to Georgia through
the process of its integration in Alliance and to the course of reforms in Defense
that will enable to form a modern military force” told Bartels.
