Society "Iveria", Georgian diplomats and Civil Society members have made an announcement responding to the appointment of Ryan Grist as deputy head of EUMM in Georgia.
According to the announcement, Ryan Grist has been dismissed from his previous position in Georgia in 2008 after OSCE condemned his actions of supporting the Russian version of starting the war (between Georgia and Russia) and harming Georgia's national interests.
Authors of the announcement blame Georgian Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs on accepting EU's decision to appoint the candidate while neglecting his identity, reports GHN.
Authors also interpret appointment of Ryan Gist by EU as a failure of Ministry of Foreign Affairs to try and effectively challenge this action and accuse them in blindly giving EU permission to appoint their candidate.
"We believe that it is still not late to discharge Ryan Grist, within the interests of Georgia Georgian Government is obliged to take action in shortest period while corresponding to diplomatic practices", mentioned the announcement.
