According to
Prime Minister's Press Service information Prime Minister of
Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili attended the political forum "Challenges of
Economic Growth for Georgia", organized by Government of Georgia and the
group of World Bank, yesterday. The forum was also attended by the chief economist of the
World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Region, Hans Timmer. Forum participants
discussed the development of the Government's policy priorities - Georgia 2020
Project for the social-economic development strategy of the country.
Prime Minister named achieving economic growth as the priority of government. According
to Garibashvili, one of the key challenges for the government would be to
ensure that economic development and progress had an impact on the social and
economic condition of the Georgian population. He also stressed the importance
of creating such business environment in Georgia, where every entrepreneur
obeys the same rules of doing business.
The project of social and economic development
strategy of the country was developed with the active participation of all
ministries, experts, national bank, business sector and international
organizations.
Named project was initiated by Prime Minister last year and was carried out by Ministries
of Finance and Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
"We listened to their evaluations. We spoke about the challenges facing
our country. We discussed the problems and outlined the ways to solve them. You
know that the government has a long-term strategy for the country's
development, as well as local industry development strategy, but difficulties
still remain” – Prime Minister told journalists after finishing the economic
forum.
In addition, the Prime Minister commented on
the threshold to increase up to 50% and called the bill revolutionary, which
includes amendments to the election law.
