Today, the
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held an extended meeting with the European
Commissioner for Energy, Günther Oettinger at the Government Chancellery. The
sides discussed the perspective of accession into the European Energy Union.
According to information released on Georgian Government's web page the discussion focused on the issues of Georgia's
European integration and the progressed made in this direction was noted. Among
them was the initialing the Association Agreement in Vilnius, last November.
As it was
mentioned, the European Union team supports the idea of Georgia's uniting the
European Energy Union. As for the preparatory process, the negotiations will be
continued for 6-8 month and the agreement will be signed in October of the
current year.
At the meeting, the participants discussed
various energy projects as well.
An extended meeting was attended by the Minister
of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maia Panjikidze and Minister of Energy of
Georgia, Vice-Prime Minister Kakha Kaladze.
