Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili met with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt in the seaside city of Batumi yesterday.
`The sides discussed issues of European integration of Georgia and Sweden`s assistance in this direction,` presidet`s press service has reported.
President Saakashvili and Bildt discussed the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia and the role of EU observers in preserving stability in the region. After the meeting the Georgian President familiarized the guest with Batumi night.
`I am very impressed by what I saw. Batumi is a beautiful city and your country has been able to achieve much in recent years and that is very important,` Bildt said while sharing his impressions on Batumi with journalists.
The guest has also held meeting with the Foreign Minister of Georgia Grigol Vashadze in Tbilisi. He said the Sweden would soon open its embassy in Georgia soon.
This morning Carl Bildt, together with Georgian Deputy Prime Minister, State Minister for European Integration Giorgi Baramidze will visit Poland Sopot, which will host the meeting of the foreign ministers of the `Eastern Partnership` of the EU.
