Today, in the Republic of Azerbaijan city Nakhichevani took place tripartite meeting between ministers of defense of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. Irakli Alasania, Zahir Hasanov and Ismeth Ilmaz discussed tripartite collaboration perspectives of the sphere of defense. The sides also talked about ways of strengthening of stability. Special attention was paid to the issues of common defense of strategic energy-transport infrastructure of the region. Ministers also stated that deepening collaboration will target national security of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, reports GHN.
After the meeting the ministers of three countries answered the questions of media: "I am very glad that I am in Nakhichevani, in Azerbaijan and that we lay foundation to a very important collaboration in tripartite format with strategic partners - Turkey and Azerbaijan. We had very productive meeting, where we discussed issues of defense and security connected to common defense of critical infrastructure. This theme is directly connected to economic development of our countries and its prosperity. Georgia is very lucky that has such kind of good neighbors and partners like Turkey and Azerbaijan. On the background of challenges connected to security we have to make our collaboration more close and to defend together critical infrastructure, that is part of our development. Our practical collaboration aims only and only strengthening peace, stability and security in region. On the background of existed security challenge we have to make out collaboration more close. Everyone have to see that collaboration is directed towards strengthening security, economic growth and is based on national interests. We support territorial integrity, sovereignty of each other and will do everything to solve the conflicts that exist in region with peaceful ways," stated the Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania.
Minister of Defense of Georgia visited Azerbaijan yesterday with official visit. Irakli Alasania met Azerbaijanian college, Colonel-General Zahir Hasanov and also chairman of higher Majlis of autonomic republic of Nakhichevani Vasif Talibov.
