The Minister of Defense of Georgia Irakli Alasania was on the cruiser of sixth fleet of US navy "Vella Gulf". With the help of American sailors the guest looked around the cruiser. The Minister of Defense talked about importance of the visit of American ship. With the statement of Irakli Alasania: "The fact that the ship with such kind of armament, with defensive possibilities came into the Black Sea is very important. This is not first time, it happens already third time. This is one more statement of United States of America that it will be faithful supporter of our region and security of Georgia. We develop in bilateral format military collaboration and wait that NATO summit, that will take place in several weeks, will result into more possibility for Georgia to protect own security. This is one more step towards security of our region, and we are thankful to the United States of America. I am sure that in future there will be more often trainings of military ships and also armed forces of NATO and United States of America in Georgia," reports GHN.
Cruiser of US sixth fleet "Vella Gulf" visited Batumi port in August 18 and will stay in Georgia two days. The visit underlines the effort of US to deepen relations with allies of NATO and its partners, to support solving of united tasks, also to strengthen stability and peace on Black Sea region.
"Vella Gulf" is a ship equipped with manageable missiles. The base of the cruiser is located in City Norfolk in state Virginia. It has multiple role of strengthening of security in area of acting of sixth fleet, also role in bilateral and versatile trainings and concerning support of NATO operations in region.
