Polling station opened throughout Georgia at 7 a.m. on Sunday (May 30), although the voting started at a8 a.m. 76 election districts have been registered throughout the country. Among them, the voting process is not being held at three districts - Liakhvi, Kodori and Akhalgori. The voting will be held at 2694 polling stations.
Along with the local self-government elections, voters will cast ballots for majority candidates for Georgian parliament at three districts.
The local self-government elections are being held by majority and proportional systems. Voters in Tbilisi will also cast ballots for Tbilisi mayor.
Speaker of the Central Election Commission said at the press conference, 9 candidates are running for Tbilisi Mayor. Three blocs and 24 political parties are taking part in the elections.
