The theme of Abkhazian so called presidential elections dominates in foreign media today. In the materials published by "BBC" and "Reuters", French "France Press," Polish Press Agency "PAP", Russian "Interfax", Itar-Tass,", "RIA Novosti" and other agencies there is described the results of the elections: due to the preliminary results published by elections administration 50,57% of the votes belongs to Raul Khajimba. So Raul Khajimba was elected as the president. The main competitor Aslan Bjhania received 35,91% of votes. 70% of the electorate took part in the elections, reports GHN.

"The candidates didn't touch the subject of entry of Abkhazia in Russian Federation, every one of them emphasized that it is necessary to form new big agreement between Abkhazia and Russia," there is said in the article.
Right now the relations between Abkhazia and Russia are regulated with the agreement signed in 2008. Some parts of the agreement are old and needs to be changed. In new agreement between Russia and Abkhazia will be taken into account formation of common space of security and defense with the way of creation integration group of army of both countries, also opening of the border of Abkhazia and Russia and strengthening of Abkhazia-Georgia border. The document has to regulate social-economic block, also customs regime... the new agreement doesn't touch the issues connected to the state sovereignty of Abkhazia - the independency of Abkhazia is if firm for Russia without doubts," there is said in the article.
Today 25 August in Russian service of US radio station "Voice of America" ("Golos Ameriki) there was discussed presidential elections of Abkhazia (author Nestan Charkviani). The author pays attention to the statistics of the elections, the fact of discrimination of Georgians (government of Abkhaz separatists deprived right to Georgian population to vote, the motive is illegal issue of passports), also it touches the incident that happened in Istanbul (the illegal polling station was closed by Turkish police and made confiscation of ballot box, though as Abkhazian side informs the elections were held). Publication also touches the reactions of Georgia and European Union: due to the statement the elections are illegal and are against international- legal principles.
