The Swiss edition Neue Zurcher Zeitung publishes article about so called presidential elections in Abkhazia and states that former officer of KGB was elected as a president, reports GHN.
"In presidential elections held in Abkhazia won Raul Khajinma. He replaced Aleksandre Ankvab on this high post. It is true that during presidency of Aleksandre Ankvab many things positively changed in Abkhazia, but he was ruling the republic using authoritarian style," writes Silvia Shtoiber,- but it must be also said that exactly while presidency of Ankvab Russia expanded its military infrastructure in Abkhazia. Right, now as experts say, in Abkhazia is dislocated 24 Russian military base and the border with Georgia is controlled by the Federal Security Service of Russia."
"Raul Kajinba has Russian orientation, but the subject of relations with Russia will be challenging for him. Abkhazia can refuse to Russia to permanent military and financial support, but on the other hand exactly Abkhazians think that exactly Russian businessmen cause damage to independency of Abkhazia. Raul Khajinba have to carry out tough dialogues with existed political or social groups and it is impossible to reach consensus," reports the publication.
