The US demands that international observers be admitted into Georgia’s invaded territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Mike FcFaul, a senior advisor to the US President Barack Obama for Russian and Eurasian affairs, said that territorial integrity of Georgia remained the most acute issue in the US-Russian relations.
FcFaul made the statement in the wake of the forthcoming meeting between Hilary Clinton, US Secretary of State and Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister to be held later today. “Escalation of tension must not reoccur in the Caucasus,” he claimed.
American and Russian press earlier reported that Clinton would raise the Georgian issue during her meeting with Lavrov.
