The number of people killed in the east of Ukraine is almost 3,000 today.
Ivan Simonovic, U.N. Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights said, presenting a report by a U.N. monitoring mission Friday, reports GHN based on Ukrinform.
"The current number of killed is 2,593 - close to 3,000 if we include the 298 victims of the MH17 (Malaysian airliner) plane crash," Simonovic said.
He noted that civilian casualties grew over a recent month.
According to the UN data, since mid-April and until mid-June, 11 people were killed on average daily. Over the last month, this number grew to 36 people daily, Simonovic stressed.
