Russian edition "Ogoniok" publishes article about the situation that is created in Abkhazia after so called presidential elections and states that there is discord in Abkhazian society after elections (author Olga Alenova), reports GHN.
"There is one orthodox church in oldest Abkhazian village Likhni, that is built on the place of pagan temple. Here come not only Christians but also those people who respect Abkhazian traditional beliefs and customs. The priest Lergei Shakrili is respected person for everyone. He says that in old Abkhazian beliefs is union of religion, traditions, culture, legends... this is exactly specialty of Abkhazia- here they can combine impossible things to each other. They try to move forward not to lose many centuries culture, though it is not always possible. The war of 1990 affected the tradition and rules of life of Abkhazians: blockade, demolition, casualties and hate created crack in traditions of hospitable people. The big part of people moved into the towns, villages emptied, changed the mentality of people, people became competitors to each other.. corruption, demonstration of expensive cars, pride and haughtiness, envy, love of the power -this is all the signs of that heavy illness Abkhaz people suffers from," reads the article.
"Sergei Shakril is the symbol of oldest Abkhazian culture and traditions. "Before you do something first think about. It is easy to be shamed, and it's tough to get rid of shame. It will follow you whole your life," says the priest. "Aleksander Abkvab was not bad man. I remember when I was ill he visited me in hospital and left money under the pillow so I didn't notice it...but he has tough character, he couldn't find common language with people and people want to talk to him. Our president is obliged to talk to everyone."
The signs of discord occurred in Abkhazian society after the events that took place in May - some people remained loyal to the president Aleksandr Ankvab, some went into opposition. It must be said that century lime tree was struck by the thunderstruck and slpit it into two parts. Many considered it as sign of disaster. Aleksande Ankvab was forced to leave position, he was blamed for illegal use of votes of the Georgians that live in Gali region, their passports were issued violating the legislation. Finally Georgians were deprived right to vote.
In early elections won Raul Khajimba, who have to work to keep Georgians calm. May people know that government will not be able to integrate this border region into Abkhazian society, in this case Abkhazia will be divided into two parts. The fact that population of this regions doesn't have right to vote affects negatively the image of the republic.
As the member of Abkhazian Public Chamber Aslan Tkhakushev says "this is very sensitive subject. We know that Georgian government says that there are only 17% of Abkhazians in their homeland, though we do many things to improve the situation. Abkhazian society gets more open. In eastern regions live 60-70 thousand Georgians, you can't find such kind of example in whole world, and Abkhazians did it. If we consider that Abkhazian population reaches 250 thousand in this regard we do not deserve reprimands."
Except of integration of Gali region there is one more though issue for the president: he have to unite the society; in other case there will be one more early elections. May be this is not accidental that thunderstruck struck century lime tree? Though Sergei Shakril believes in wisdom of people and says that "people will find truth and there is not time to pay attention to bad signs."
