Today the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili opened International Leader's Forum and delivered the speech, reports GHN.
The President of Georgia talked about foreign challenges and also touched the events of Ukraine: "we are the country that tries to build modern democratic state. There is one more country like us - Ukraine where there is war right now. Like Ukraine we were punished for free choice," stated Giorgi Margvelashvili.
The President also talked about the challenges that face new democratic states:
"There are real challenges for new democratic states that mean developing of democratic governance, creating democratic nation with western values and western orientation. This is connected to many problems, not only lack on knowhow but also the geopolitical space of the region," stated Margvelashvili.
The President of Georgia thanked organizers of the event and talked about the importance of the forum on the background of challenges in the region.
The President also took part in discussions of the forum and answered questions on the theme - state building of Georgia.
International Leader's Forum was opened today in Tbilisi and will last till September 3. The event is held under aegis of Stanford Center on Democracy, Development and Rule of Law and Research Center of Economic Politics.
